Cabonne Council has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, self-starter to join the Safety, People & Culture team as the organisation's Work Health & Safety Coordinator.

About the Role

In this role you will be required to work collaboratively to support a culture of physical and psychological wellbeing across Council’s operations and ensure Council meets its work health and safety legislative obligations in all we do and maintain our WHSMS to ISO45001 standards.The position is also responsible for Council's Recover at Work and Wellness programmes.

Further tasks may include:

 

  • Provide WHS training, education and induction.
  • On ground compliance and conformance monitoring.
  • Contractor safety management.
  • Project safety management support.
  • WHS data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • WHS systems support.
  • Record keeping.
  • WHSMS document maintenance.
  • Report writing.
  • Maintenance of ISO45001 certification.
  • Incident investigation support.
  • Coordinate our HSRs.
  • Manage recover at work including liaison with Council's insurers.
  • Monitor WHSMS corrective action and continuous improvement registers and tasks.

 

 

Someone with experience is preferred, but for the right candidate full training will be provided. In this role you are able to progress from the level of operator to technician as you work through clearly defined training pathways.

This role is a full-time role, working out of both our Molong and Cudal offices.

The operation does not require shift work, instead working Monday to Friday, providing flexibility for the perfect work/life balance. The position operates over a 35-hour week with a 9-day fortnight.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Class C driver’s licence.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in work health and safety.

  • Return to work coordinator training.

  • Adult training and education qualifications

  • WHS Auditor qualifications.

  • Electrical test and tag qualifications.

 

Skills &Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role including experience in on ground health and safety compliance is desirable.

  • Strong data recording, statistics analysis, and presentation skills.

  • High level communication skills both verbal and written including the capacity to interact with all levels of staff and the public while maintaining effective customer service and relationship management.

  • Effective problem solving and influencing skills.

  • A knowledge of statutory requirements of various Acts and regulations relevant to the position.

  • Well-developed computer literacy skills in the use of a variety of computer software packages.

  • This role is suited to a person with core skills and values that match the position and is willing to undertake intensive training to learn the role.
