Salary Range: $1,432 - $1,635 per 35 hour week + superannuation, with a monthly RDO

The Position
The purpose of this position is to provide engineering / technical assistance with various activities including design, investigation, asset management and GIS.
In this role you will investigate, research, analyse, assist and report on projects associated with new construction, rehabilitation or maintenance of Council’s Civil Infrastructure assets, such as urban and rural roads, footpaths, kerb and gutter, piped and open channel stormwater drainage systems, culverts, causeways, bridges, structures for parks and gardens, and other civil infrastructure. This will involve field surveys of allocated engineering projects, preparing engineering designs, and assisting with pavement, geotechnical and structural investigation as required for construction or rehabilitation of infrastructure assets.
You will also assist with preparation of tender / quotation documents including technical specifications, estimates and schedules of quantities for engaging external contractors and consultants, resolution of civil design issues, grant application submissions and assessment of traffic and drainage impacts associated with development applications.
Essential Requirements
- Commitment to Council’s Mission, Values and Code of Conduct
- Understanding of work health and safety (WHS) in the workplace and commitment to a positive contribution to WHS in the workplace and compliance with Council and legislative requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (recognized by Engineers Australia) or significant experience in Local Government Civil Infrastructure
- Sound understanding of the following:
- CAD applications – AutoCAD, Magnet (CivilCad)
- Civil engineering – design and construction
- Geometric road design and or drainage design (including hydraulic calculations)
- Project management
- Asset management principles
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in a technical environment
- Commitment to producing high quality work
- Class C NSW Drivers Licence.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in engineering surveying
- Experience in civil engineering design and estimates
- Experience using GIS software applications
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project
