Status: Permanent full-time (38 hours per week)

Salary: $103,361.61 to $113,694.91 per annum + 10.5% superannuation + leaseback vehicle/sustainability allowance

The successful candidate will assist in leading continuous strategic and operational improvements to waste services and cleansing operations through ongoing analysis and review of service levels.
 
The successful candidate will also be responsible for the ongoing monitoring of Council’s remediation sites using external consultants to ensure that Council meets the required standard set by the NSW EPA guidelines for former landfill sites.

We will trust you to bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications at degree level in environmental engineering or relevant field experience in operational management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compliance and legislation for the management of asbestos
  • Demonstrated high level of skill in computer databases such as MS Office, Tech One, Pathway and TRIM
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the waste management industry
  • Proven negotiation and dispute resolution skills with the ability to negotiate and influence people
  • Proven effective communication skills both oral and written with the ability to communicate to a wide range of groups or individuals
 
Things you will do: 
  • Assist in the development of system improvements and quality solutions to ensure the functions of the team are effective and working at an optimum level in service delivery
  • Assist in the development and review of waste management components of Development Control Plans
  • Manage Council’s ongoing monitoring and remediation works specifically related to historic waste disposal sites
  • Assist in the development of Council’s commercial trade waste services, including signing up new clients and database maintenance
  • Maintain compliance with organisational laws, regulations, guidelines and policy
  • Report, monitor and make appropriate recommendations to ensure that agreed service levels are met
