THE OPPORTUNITY

This dynamic and challenging position is responsible for undertaking repairs, maintenance and servicing on Council's diverse fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment (both mechanical and electrical).  You will have the opportunity to work both autonomously and will be responsible for planning and scheduling required works.  You will also have the opportunity to work as part of a team and have the support of a team environment.  

The position is based in Dubbo however you will have the opportunity to work across the whole local government area out on location at Council's project based worksites.

Council would welcome applications from apprentices nearing completion of the Heavy Vehicle Mechanic qualification.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO

  • Apply problem solving techniques by applying standards, established practices and procedures, or operating instructions.
  • Assist the Team Leader by providing input into the planning and development of work programs and services schedules.
  • Communicate with different levels of the organisation.
  • Provide supervision to apprentices performing similar tasks.
  • Ensure high quality standards of workmanship.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED

  • Qualified and licenced Motor Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Plant Mechanic or apprentices nearing completion.

You are a motivated and skilled individual who enjoys new challenges and workplace variety. You have demonstrated experience in successfully maintaining a variety of vehicles, plant and equipment. You possess sound communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with different levels of the organisation.

Salary: $60,848 - $70,715 per annum plus superannuation and industry allowances
