‘A place built by a fascinating history’
Central Darling Shire is the largest Shire in NSW and yet has the smallest population. It covers an area about the size of the main island of Tasmania and yet has a population of less than 2,000 people. The Shire is extremely diverse with four main communities (Wilcannia, Menindee, Ivanhoe and White Cliffs) and Council is committed to delivering customer focused services and support to the Shire.
· Flexible work arrangements between working from home and attending the Shire monthly
· Subsidised housing available for when in Wilcannia
· Great broad role suiting someone with Environmental Health experience without the qualification
· Competitive remuneration package in the vicinity of $115,000 per annum
· Sponsorship opportunity for those seeking overseas sponsorship
We have a great opportunity for someone with sufficient work experience in an environmental health or environmental compliance role within Councils or Government that is looking for a tree change to the beautiful outback.
Some of the role can be done remotely from your home however, due to the hands on nature of inspections and the like we require attendance at our main Council offices at Wilcannia on a semi regular basis. Therefore, if you live in one of our towns in the Shire, or Broken Hill or Cobar, it will suit you in terms of travel time.
The breadth of the role is appealing – everything from providing expert environmental advice to assisting with the environmental aspects of our road contracts with Government through to providing key support in managing our swimming pool operations and collecting water samples from our treatment plants. There is plenty of scope to make an immediate difference.
