Hornsby Shire Council, located in Sydney’s Upper North Shore, is unique in its setting combining urban living, expansive bushland and national parks, ocean shores, winding ridges and undulating rivers and creeks. With a population of approx. 160,000, spanning 460 km², the Shire’s community is connected, cohesive, resilient and mindful of the natural environment that surrounds them.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director will be responsible for leading the functions of capital works program delivery, civil operations, project management, asset planning and maintenance, aquatic and indoor recreation facilities, buildings and foreshore facilities, the flow of traffic and safety on our local non-state-controlled roads, and accountability for the delivery of major projects.

In leading a team of 7 direct reports and approx. 120 staff members across the Division, the Director is responsible in overseeing a current year capital expenditure budget of $57 and an operational budget of $22M. 

To succeed, you will bring many qualities to the role, including inspirational people leadership, a strong commitment to the development of an engaged organisation culture, a track record in delivering a range of asset related services, have a commercial approach, well developed relationship skills and a standout passion for service excellence. 
You will have a degree level qualification in Engineering, or other relevant discipline, and extensive experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary areas within a complex organisational environment.

A generous Total Remuneration Package in the vicinity of $320,000 on a 5-year contract will be negotiated with the successful candidate based on the skills, abilities and experience the preferred candidate will bring to the role.
