Bounded on one side by the Warrumbungle National Park, and on the other by the Western Plains and Macquarie Marshes, Coonamble Shire Council offers the perfect combination of a rich history and country living. The Shire is renowned for its diversified agricultural industries, including broadacre cropping, and with large cattle and sheep production Coonamble Shire is one of the most productive agricultural regions in Western NSW. As part of the Orana region the Shire comprises the towns of Coonamble and Gulargambone with the village of Quambone and is less than two hours’ drive by road from Dubbo and six hours from Sydney.

Council is seeking to appoint a Director who will assist in driving transformational change and ensure that Council’s services meet the needs of the community.

 

Reporting to our newly appointed General Manager, you will have strong leadership skills and a background in driving positive outcomes. There is a varied number of portfolios for you to manage adding to the diversity of the role.

 

To be successful in this position, you will have significant success in either economic development, planning or ideally both, preferably in local government, with experience in:

 

  •          Providing strong, inspiring leadership;

  •          Developing and implementing strategic planning and economic development strategies that will work in Coonamble; and

  •          Delivering quality services to the community across all age groups.

     

You will be a highly motivated individual on their career path to success and want to work in an organisation where you can make a difference.

 

You will have the capacity to engage stakeholders at all levels in order to negotiate and influence positive outcomes for the Council and community using your well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

 

This is a great role full of opportunities for the right person. Council is offering a permanent, full-time position and an attractive remuneration package including vehicle, housing and additional leave. Relocation assistance will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
