The Shire is renowned for its diversified agricultural industries, including broadacre cropping, and with large cattle and sheep production Coonamble Shire is one of the most productive agricultural regions in Western NSW. As part of the Orana region the Shire comprises the towns of Coonamble and Gulargambone with the village of Quambone and is less than two hours drive by road from Dubbo and six hours from Sydney.

Council is seeking to appoint a General Manager who will drive transformational change and ensure that Council’s services meet the needs of the community. Reporting to the Mayor and Council, you will have strong leadership skills and a background in driving positive outcomes whilst fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, compliance and delivery.


To be successful in this position, you will have significant success in a senior leadership role, preferably in local government, with experience in:

·         Leading and managing change;

·         Developing and implementing strategic planning;

·         Building an organisational culture of empowerment and accountability; and

·         Delivering quality services to the community.


You will be a highly motivated senior executive who possesses excellent communication skills and the capacity to engage stakeholders at all levels in order to negotiate and influence positive outcomes for the Council and community.


This is a great role full of opportunities for the right person. Council is offering a 5-year performance-based contract and an attractive remuneration package.
