Youth Development Officer

  • Salary $73,055.01 to $84,742.88 p/a + super
  • Permanent full time position
  • 35 hours per week

Located 16 km’s north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and set in one of New South Wales’ most attractive natural environments.

About the role

Reporting to the Youth Services Coordinator, you will be responsible providing high quality youth services across the Ku-rin-gai local government area.

Duties

  • Operate Council’s youth centres
  • Develop recreational and support focused youth centre programs
  • Collaborate with schools and local youth services to create partnerships for programs and events
  • Maintain social media pages for the youth area
  • Oversee casuals and youth volunteers
  • Consult with young people using a range of strategies to develop programs in response to identified community needs

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Social Science/Youth Work or related
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • Class C driver’s license
  • Working with Children Check Clearance Number

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in working with young people in direct service provision
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to young people from different backgrounds
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
