About the opportunity
We currently have a new Executive Leadership opportunity, and we are seeking a transformational, innovative, passionate, and progressive individual to lead and manage our City Growth and Economic Development Program area. Operating within an agile structure coupled with a high-performance culture, this position will be a primary advisor to the General Manager Innovation and Executive Team. This position will be required to contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic directions of the City of Darwin heading towards 2030, polices and procedure and ensures organisational effectiveness and compliance.
This position will oversee the review of development planning, approval and consultative processes required for the City of Darwin and local government legislation to ensure effective relations are maintained with the Development Consent Authority (DCA) the successful applicant will be responsible in overseeing preparation and implementation of strategic land use planning projects and planning scheme amendments in accordance with legislative requirements.
Economic Development and International Relations:
The Executive Manager of City Growth and Economic Development will strategically lead and manage the International Relations portfolio, investment and economic analysis in accordance with the City of Darwin strategic directions and federal Government Policies.
The successful applicant will strategically lead and manage the Property and Car Parking portfolio to ensure effective management of car parks, commercial properties and land holdings both commercial and community.
Strategic Projects and Events
This position will lead the strategic delivery of economic development projects across the municipality as well as strategically lead the events program and delivery of external events on Council land, ensuring all policies and statutory requirements are upheld.
To be successful in this role as a leader you would describe yourself and contemporary, collaborative, and responsive, with the capacity to lead change and engagement whilst fostering effective internal and external relationships.
To be consider for this role, you will have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Development / Commerce / Economics or equivalent relevant qualification and/or experience
- Strong enterprise leadership qualities
- Professional development in strategic land planning, economic development and/or community planning.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience at a senior level in the oversight and management of Economic Development
- National Criminal History Check
