About the Opportunity

Strathfield Council is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to help supervise our multi-functional team. Reporting to the Executive Manager Land Use Planning, you will prepare, deliver and assess innovative and effective strategies which will optimise residential amenity, environmental quality and social and economic well-being.

This opportunity entails a combination of strategic planning functions and assessing of development applications within a dynamic and complex community with rapid changes in population growth. 

You will be supported by an integrated team of multi-skilled planners and administration staff, working together towards a common goal to achieve specific outcomes identified in Council’s Local Strategic Planning Statement, Community Strategic Plan and Delivery Program.

About you

You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where you will be able to apply your experience and hit the ground running. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to work seamlessly within a team and feel a sense of reward and ownership from solving complex planning issues and galvanising others to do the same.  

You will have a recognised degree in urban planning or equivalent qualification combined with extensive and successful relevant working experience. You will also have a knowledge of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act, and Council and Statutory requirements in planning processes.

All applicants will need to possess a current Class ‘C’ NSW Driver’s License.

Salary and Conditions:

The salary range for this position is $108,200 to $122,000 p.a. + Super, dependent upon the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
