Salary package from $132,285 up to $155,825 per annum inclusive of superannuation
PLUS an option of a motor vehicle equalisation allowance or a lease for private use of a motor vehicle.
A 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance may also apply.
Total Remuneration Package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications.

The Position

Wollongong City Council is investing in our largest ever capital works program and we are excited to be offering an opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Design + Technical Services Manager who will lead a team of approximately 70 staff. You will apply your leadership skills and design management experience to deliver Council's infrastructure design program. This diverse portfolio includes civil, structural, architectural and landscape design, along with geotechnical investigations, survey services and environmental assessments.

Some of your initial focus areas will include:

  • Delivery of design services and technical advice across Council's Infrastructure Delivery Program (IDP) (capital and operational).
  • Technical investigations and studies for a diverse range of Infrastructure projects
  • Provision of Survey, Geotechnical and Environmental Assessment services
  • Determination of applicable design standards
  • Providing collaborative leadership and direction to develop a high performing, customer focused culture.


Your success in this role will be demonstrated through your ability to lead strategically and achieve high quality design management outcomes. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to engage, consult, negotiate, collaborate and engage across all levels of the business. You will also be agile, having the ability to work out non-standard solutions in a challenging environment, along with strong program management skills.
