The Northern Midlands Council is seeking to appoint a Planner or Planning Supervisor on a full-time basis to cover a period of parental leave. This contract is being offered as 15 months, with a possibility of extension. The position will be based at Longford in Tasmania – 15 minutes out of Launceston.
We are open to hearing from applicants who are qualified and experienced Planners as well as those who have experience in the above plus experience supervising a Development Services team.
For your application to be considered, you must have tertiary qualifications in statutory planning, as well as a minimum of three years practical application. In addition, you will have first class communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines, sound and independent judgement skills, a high degree of computer proficiency and a current driver’s licence.
Some of the typical responsibilities may include providing statutory planning functions for Council, including providing planning advice, assessing, and making recommendations on planning applications, preparing reports, be a key contact for telephone and counter enquiries, representing Council at hearings and administering Council’s Planning Scheme. For those with supervisory experience, there will also be supervision of a team of up to 8 reports, and the coordination, mentoring and support of the team.
Terms and conditions of employment, including remuneration will be negotiated with the successful incumbent and in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement 2019-2022.
