an option of a motor vehicle equalisation allowance
or a lease for private use of a motor vehicle

About the Position:

Wollongong City Council is excited to be offering an opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Environment and Development Compliance Manager. Leading a team of professionals and operational staff, you will apply your leadership and technical expertise to the management of Council's development compliance, environmental compliance and environment public health functions.

This position is also responsible for:

  • ensuring the impacts and consequences of development, (including unauthorised development) on the natural and built environment are mitigated and minimised in accordance with adopted relevant legislative, statutory processes and Council Policy
  • developing and implementing new systems and technical policies and procedures in areas relating to environmental health and development compliance
  • constructively leading Council's strategic and corporate planning activities that drive the commitment for the achievement of Council's goals, objectives and targets
  • providing collaborative leadership and direction to develop a high performing, customer and team focused culture.

Your success in this role will be demonstrated through your ability to lead strategically and develop sustainable strategies and plans that drive Council's continuous improvement in environment, health and development compliance. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to engage with external bodies and staff across all levels of the business. You will also demonstrate strong financial and project management skills and have previous experience in the analyse, interpretation and preparation of legal documentation to drive programs.
