The Northern Midlands Council, one of the largest and most diverse municipalities in Tasmania, is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO) to join our team based in Longford, Tasmania.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced EHO who is passionate and proactive in his/her approach to supporting and serving the community. Responsibilities will include monitoring regulations, inspections and investigations that actively supports public and environmental health matters.  This role will be an integral addition to the Northern Midlands Council to ensure compliance with the relevant pieces of legislation.

Our ideal candidate/s will have tertiary qualification in Environmental Health or equivalent, as well as a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position; have the ability to work autonomously; have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; be able to use their initiative and manage priorities to meet deadlines. A current driver’s licence is also a must.

This position will be offered on a full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week, over Council’s normal business hours, Monday to Friday.  Terms and conditions of employment will be negotiated with the successful applicant.  We also offer some great benefits including 12.5% superannuation, a rostered day off each month, an attractive health and well-being program, and excellent learning and development opportunities.
