Shoalhaven City Council is seeking a qualified Landscape Architect with developed expertise in landscape architectural designs, strong teamwork and customer service skills. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic high functioning design team that delivers small to large streetscape upgrade projects.

Your New Role

Reporting directly to the City Design & Support Unit Manager, the focus of this position is to:

  • Provide landscape architectural designs from concept through to fully documented and specified plans to facilitate construction work within the public domain.
  • Undertake investigations, design, technical specifications and cost estimates for a range of infrastructure projects.
  • Assess and/or prepare Development Applications and consultants reports where landscape and urban amenity may be impacted and provide professional comments.
  • Prepare schedule of materials and finishes, plant schedules, to accompany the documentation of landscape plans.

About You

In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture.
  • WorkCover General Induction Card.
  • Class C Driver’s License.

Essential Qualifications, Licences and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture.
  • WorkCover General Induction Card.
  • Class C Driver’s License

Essential Team Work and Customer Service Skills

  • Liaise with professional and service agents and stakeholders to progress and resolve design documentation in accordance with the project brief internal clients, community groups and external service providers to fulfil the objectives contained in a project brief
  • Ability to consult, share information and provide professional landscape architectural advice to all stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate Council’s Core Values of Respect, Integrity, Adaptability and Collaboration.
  • Highly developed written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential Technical Skills

  • Experienced computer aided drafting User (eg AutoCAD, Vectorworks) for detail design on a broad range of infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of Australian Standards, building codes, Natspec and other relevant legislation.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within deadlines.
  • Proficient Microsoft applications user ie Office Suite and photomontage drawing software.
  • Experience in compilation of Technical Specifications, schedules of quantities and cost estimates for construction documentation and budget planning.
  • Ability to deliver high quality landscape architectural designs which enhance the outdoor public open space, including designing spaces for accessibility and inclusivity.
