In this role, the Sustainability Strategy Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of Council’s sustainability strategies, policies and initiatives, with a strong focus on the circular economy, energy efficiency and resource management. In this position you'll have the opportunity to work collaboratively across all Council divisions as well as regional partners to improve and impact sustainability performance.  You'll find professional growth by coordinating reporting, securing funding through grants, and helping embed sustainability principles into Council’s culture and operations for the betterment of the community now and into the future.

You'll find growth through:

  • Coordinating internal working groups and engaging external stakeholders to improve sustainability outcomes.
  • Developing and reviewing sustainability strategies, policies, plans and detailed reporting for the organisation, the Executive Leadership Team and the community.
  • Leading organisational sustainability initiatives, including feasibility studies, business cases and action plans focused on energy, resources and the circular economy.
  • Applying for and managing relevant sustainability grants while coordinating project delivery and communication across multiple media channels.
  • Collecting, analysing and managing resource use data and sustainability performance metrics to support evidence‑based decision‑making.

 

What you'll bring

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing strategic plans, policies and reports to improve Council’s environmental sustainability performance.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with all stakeholders, both internal and external to an organisation.
  • Experience with data and information analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of Council staff, government and community.
  • Well-developed computer literacy and administration skills.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills.

We would also love you to have:

  • Knowledge of the environmental and sustainability issues affecting the Dubbo Local Government Area.

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $88,171 to $102,468
