Step into a dynamic Infrastructure team as our new Design Engineer where your engineering expertise will directly impact the growth and development of an entire region. You'll actively contribute to the planning and advancement of Council's civil infrastructure, bringing strategic visions to life from concept through to completion while being supported by an experienced and collaborative team that values knowledge sharing and professional development.
In this diverse role you'll have the opportunity to be involved in extremely unique and exciting projects every day where you'll grow your skills by investigating, preparing, developing and managing engineering designs using civil design software including 12d, Microstation and XPSTORM. From complex stormwater drainage networks to comprehensive road upgrades spanning urban centers and rural landscapes, you'll master diverse engineering disciplines while building a portfolio of high-impact projects that showcase your growing expertise. You’ll make an impact by:
- Preparing and delivering civil engineering plans and/or computer models for the organisation to meet budget, strategic and operational requirements
- Providing technical advice to both internal and external stakeholders
- Undertaking concept designs for long term infrastructure planning
What you'll bring
You are an Engineering Professional who has a keen eye for detail, and developed skills in survey and design.
Experience in Local Government will be viewed favourably. A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering (or Environmental Engineering) and a demonstrated ability to use survey equipment including GNSS rovers, digital levels, Total Stations and Ground Penetrating Radar will be considered favourably, as well as extensive design experience in Local Government civil works.
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, or demonstrated progression through a Bachelor of Civil Engineering or equivalent as recognised by Engineers Australia, or extensive Civil Engineering design experience
- Proficiency in the use of Design, Drafting and Microsoft Office software. (Council is currently using the following software packages – 12D, Microstation, Autoturn 11 and XPSTORM)
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills and ability to work within a team environment
- Well-developed report writing and communication skills
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills
We would also love you to have:
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering (or Environmental Engineering as recognised by Engineers Australia
- Demonstrated ability to use survey equipment including GNSS rovers, digital levels, total stations and ground penetrating radar
- Extensive design experience in Local Government civil works

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $93,725 to $108,924.
